LS-DYNA Calculation Training

Course Introduction:

LS-DYNA is the world’s most renowned general explicit dynamic analysis program, capable of simulating various complex problems in the real world. It is particularly suitable for solving nonlinear dynamic impact problems such as high-speed collisions, explosions, and metal forming of various 2D and 3D nonlinear structures. Meanwhile, it can solve heat transfer, fluid, and fluid-structure interaction problems. It is widely recognized as the best analysis software package in engineering application fields. Numerous comparisons with experiments have confirmed the reliability of its calculations.

The DYNA program series, developed under the leadership of J.O. Hallquist, is widely regarded as the originator and theoretical pioneer of explicit finite element programs, and is the foundational code for all current explicit solving programs (including explicit sheet forming programs). In 1988, J.O. Hallquist founded LSTC (Livermore Software Technology Corporation) and launched the LS-DYNA program series. In 1997, programs such as LS-DYNA2D, LS-DYNA3D, LS-TOPAZ2D, and LS-TOPAZ3D were integrated into a single software package called LS-DYNA. The preprocessing and postprocessing for the PC version adopt FEMB from ETA, and the newly developed postprocessing is LS-POST. The latest version of LS-DYNA is the 960 version, released in May 2001.

The 960 version of the LS-DYNA program is a comprehensive program supporting geometric nonlinearity (large displacement, large rotation, and large strain), material nonlinearity (over 140 dynamic material models), and contact nonlinearity (over 50 types). It primarily uses the Lagrangian algorithm, supplemented by ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian) and Eulerian algorithms; focuses on explicit solving, with additional implicit solving capabilities; centers on structural analysis, with integrated heat analysis and fluid-structure coupling functions; emphasizes nonlinear dynamic analysis, while also supporting static analysis functions (such as prestress calculation before dynamic analysis and springback calculation after sheet metal stamping forming). It is a general nonlinear finite element program for structural analysis that combines military and civilian applications.
