Common ANSYS Commands

ANSYS is a powerful engineering simulation software, and its command stream forms the foundation for simulation modeling and analysis. Below are some commonly used ANSYS commands:

  1. FINISH: Exit normally from the processor.
  2. /CLEAR: Clear the database.
  3. /PREP7: Enter the preprocessor for model creation.
  4. ET: Define an element from the element library, e.g., et,1,beam189.
  5. MP: Define material properties, e.g., mp,ex,1,2.1e5.
  6. LESIZE: Set mesh size, e.g., lesize,1,,,10.
  7. LMESH: Generate nodes from lines to mesh elements, e.g., lmesh,all.
  8. /SOLU: Enter the solution mode.
  9. DK: Define node constraints at keypoints, e.g., dk,1,all,0.
  10. FK: Apply a concentrated force at a keypoint, e.g., fk,2,fy,-10e3.
  11. ALLSEL,ALL: Select all entities.
  12. SOLVE: Perform the solution.

In addition, there are commands related to geometric modeling, such as:

  • BLC4 and BLC5: Generate rectangular areas.
  • RECTNG: Generate an area by defining X and Y coordinates of a rectangle on the working plane.
  • CYL4: Generate a solid circular area or a sectorial circular area via a central reference point.

These commands serve as the starting point for ANSYS simulations, covering all steps from model establishment, mesh generation, material property definition, loading and solving to post-processing. Mastering these basic commands is crucial for conducting effective simulation analysis.
